Madi Arends, Editor in Chief - Print
After discovering her niche for writing, Senior Madi Arends took a step into the world of Journalism her sophomore year.
“My favorite part of Journalism is the responsibility and freedom we have,” Arends said.
As a self-proclaimed perfectionist, she took on the job of the Chief of Layout her senior year.
“I like to be the one who makes the paper look the best it can be and that I don’t have to tell someone else to do it,” Arends said.
Her prized piece was the March Madness double truck she had written her junior year with fellow Editor in Chief Pete Makarov.
“It was a big deal for two juniors to have their own double truck and it was a large responsibility,” said Arends, “but we managed to make it really successful.”
Outside of the newspaper world, Arends enjoys playing tennis as well as softball, and she also nannys and is a superfan for the boys basketball team.
Arends states that she is an avid lover of Starbucks and also Punch pizza and she looks forward to spending her free time there with friends.
After high school Arends is planning to attend Iowa State University and major in either Pre-physical therapy or Exercise Science.
