Spartans start season with a win against Monticello

Orono Boys Basketball kicks of the season with a big win against Monticello

The Orono Boys Basketball team began their season on Nov. 21 against Monticello at Orono.  The game began slow as almost 2 minutes went by without either team scoring. Spartan coach Barry Wohler started the Spartans with sophomore Sam Sustacek, juniors Cole Hennings and Ethan Larson, and seniors Andy Ten Eyck and Ben Turnham.

The Spartans led both halves of the game and the halftime score was 27-22.  The game finished with a score of 63-52.  The Spartans faces foul trouble early in the game.  Before halftime the team had 18 fouls and Sustacek had three personal fouls early in the first half.  As the game went on other Spartans totaled 3-4 personal fouls and Turnham would foul out near the end of the game.  Ten Eyck led the team in points with 20 followed by senior Chandler Jacoby with 11 and Hennings with 8.  The Spartans began the season with a win and looked on to face Marshall on Sat. Nov. 23.
