The Student Senate revealed this year’s Prom theme at lunch today: Midnight Masquerade.
The theme centers on lush greenery and floral elements set against a dark atmosphere illuminated with fairy lights.
The reveal unfolded during lunch today, when the Student Senate played a video montage featuring masquerade scenes from various films.
Moments later, two “midnight masqueraders” dashed into the cafeteria to quickly hand out Prom flyers before disappearing as abruptly as they had arrived.
Orono students have mixed feelings on the theme. According to a recent poll* conducted by The Spartan Speaks, only 40% of OHS is in favor of the theme, whereas the other 60% were with opposed or unsure of whether they liked it or not.
The dance is scheduled for Friday, May 22nd.
Ticket sales open to students on Tuesday, April 15th on My Payments Plus at 2:30 pm. In order to purchase tickets, students must be in good standing.
*This poll was not scientific. This poll was posted on the Spartan Speaks Instagram. When asked, “Do you like the 2026 Prom theme: Midnight Masquerade?”, there were 18 votes for “Yes”, 14 votes for “No, ” and 13 votes for “I’m unsure.”
