When you walk into the local Wayzata bookstore The Bookcase, you’ll often chance upon Orono senior and Newspaper necessity, Rachel Bongart.

Bongart has become a staple employee for the store, working long hours, running book clubs, and writing book reviews (and her own novels!)

Writing these reviews is actually what attracted her to the Orono Spartan Speaks--it was another way for her to release her creative juices and review interesting fiction novels--and she’s stayed for the dynamic group of individuals she works with.

When not writing for The Bookcase or the Spartan Speaks, Bongart can be found editing for Montage, attending concerts (Imagine Dragons, ZZ Ward or U2, anyone?), viewing Scandal and action flicks, or uncovering the past at an Archeology camp in La Crosse, WI that she attends every summer.

This interest in the world’s past has even sparked a desire in Bongart to major in history and science during college, with a potential minor in creative writing.

Where will this trifecta of interests converge next year?

Bongart isn’t quite sure, but she knows she wants a smaller school, and St. Olaf and the University of Richmond are two top contenders.

Whether writing her own fiction piece at the French Meadow Bakery and Cafe or relaxing to an episode of Bones on Netflix, Bongart is always doing something, and doesn’t plan to stop any time soon.
