Spring sports begin late after long winter

Track and Field
The five captains of the 2018 track and field season are seniors Holly Harrison, Kayla Gehring, Lauren Hansen, Nick Gherardi, and Timmy Dudley. These teammates look forward to the warm weather after school workout at the Pesonen Stadium. “I am so looking forward to the track season because it not only is low pressure and tons of fun, but it allows me to branch out from my usual friend group,” sophomore Megan Marzolf shared.

Softball
The three captains of the 2018 softball season are seniors Kaysie Scott and Alyssa Denneson, and junior Jordan Case. These girls are looking forward to new beginnings with new coaches. “From what I’ve seen, the new coaches have a ton of energy and plan to make us competitive in every game. Having passionate coaches gives the team encouragement and drive,” Captain Case shared.

Women’s Golf
The two captains of the 2018 Women’s Golf season conclude of senior Nicole Neuberger and junior Alayna Eichstadt. This team is ready for the snow to melt so they can get out on the course and have fun with one another. The golf team is off to a late season start so captain Eichstadt shared, “I am looking forward to the season to start because I am excited to start playing golf with my friends again.”

Men’s Tennis
The three captains of the 2018 Men’s Tennis season are seniors Conner Olsen, Alex Burger, and Andy Barron. These boys are excited for the team bonding this season on and off the court. “What I am looking forward to the most is without a doubt the team sleepovers we have throughout the season and the post match chipotle runs,” Senior Graham Mehaffy shared.

Men’s Golf
The three captains of the 2018 Men’s Golf season are seniors Shane Hewitt and Luke Sladek, along with junior Charlie Carlsen. This year’s team is hoping for a very successful season with all the talent this team holds. The golf team is off to a late season start, so freshman Fin Jevne shared, “I am excited to get out on the course and start playing with my friends and teammates.”

Baseball
The captains of the 2018 baseball season are to be determined, however Bucky, the head coach, plans on having three team leaders. This team is ready for the rowdy bus rides and the fun practices with great music. “I’m looking forward to the warmer weather and grinding with my guys everyday.” junior Jimmy Buck shared.

Men’s Lacrosse
The three captains of the 2018 Men’s Lacrosse season are seniors Davey Burns, Jackson Zilverberg, and Evan Babekuhl. These boys have built up a team of powerful young men that have great futures ahead of them in the lacrosse world and hope to use it to their advantage this season. “I am looking forward to having a successful season with a great group of guys and making something happen in the postseason,” junior Zach Adams shared.

Women’s Lacrosse
The three captains of the 2018 Women’s Lacrosse season are seniors Rachel Constant, Anna Soshnik, and Serena Laing. These players shared their excitement for the new season with all the competitive players fighting for a spot on varsity. “I am looking forward for all the snow to melt so we can finally have a game and practice on the turf,” captain Rachel Constant shared.
