Survivor Week is on!
This annual, high-stakes event is back, pitting 15 students against each other in a series of challenges to raise money for a great cause.
This year, all funds raised will go to Make-A-Wish Minnesota to help grant wishes to children fighting critical illnesses.
“It’s [important] because it helps grant wishes to kids who are in the hospital and might not be getting to do a lot of the fun stuff that other kids are getting to do in the winter and throughout the year,” junior participant Ella Palm said.
Survivor Week began yesterday, Monday, December 8th, and runs to Friday, December 12th. Survivor Week is run by DECA and occurs every year.
Contestants participate in daily activities and challenges before and during school in order to win immunity for the elimination challenges that occur after school. Examples of challenges include wearing a swim cap throughout the day and not being able to eat with your hands.
“Today, I will break the egg that [my sister] has. I’m only allowed to break it during passing time or snack break, […], but it will be broken by the end of the day,” Palm said, describing her challenge.
Students can also secure immunity by raising the most money out of all the contestants. Lots of contestants will be selling baked goods and other food throughout the week in order to accomplish this objective.
