Orono students achieved great success this year in swimming and wrestling with many students placing at the state tournaments for both sports. For boys swimming, Senior Peter Kasner finished with All State recognition in his 50 and 100 yard freestyle in which he placed 8th and 5th respectively. Seniors Jack Marquis, Cameron Davison, Peter Kasner, and Sophomore Henry Luetmer were in the 200 yard relay and they finished 12th this year.
For wrestling, Junior Danny Striggow won the state meet this year in the 220AA division. He had a great section meet and came back to the Xcel Energy Center to win. Sophomores Shea Albrecht and Dave Wilfort experienced their state tournament debuts this year.
“Wrestling at the Xcel is something not a lot of people get to do in their life. It’s exciting and nerve wracking at the same time. Not only are you wrestling for yourself but you wrestle for your whole town,” sophomore Shea Albrecht said.
Orono students have worked hard this year and saw results. Orono Swim and Dive team and Orono Wrestling Club have continued to train students and prepare them to do their best.
