Junior track and field runner Rachel Fay is the fifth recipient of Athlete of the Month for the Orono Spartans during the 2014-2015 sports season.

Fay has been a very impressive runner for the spartans competing in various amounts of events and doing a great job at it.

The Spartans compete in the Wright County Conference and won the True Team meet beating the likes of Minnetonka and Wayzata.

The team is lead by many seniors but Fay has been the leader of something she excels in, pole vault.

At the conference meet, she tied an Orono record with a 9”0’ vault. That record has stood for many years so for Fay to match it is impressive to say the least.

Only a junior, Fay has an excellent chance to set the record for Orono history next year.

Fay has been an excellent leader as well. She is on NHS and is on student senate.

“This award means that I’m doing my job on and off the track and that makes me happy to receive this award,” Fay said.
