Minnetonka Orchards Back-to-School Event

Finally, it’s that time of year again: fall. The leaves are turning orange, the weather is getting colder and the apples are getting juicier.

Here’s a ripe fact for you: 7,500 varieties of apples are grown throughout the world with 2,500 varieties being grown all around us this very second. Now picture that ruby red apple in your hand and take a huge bite out of it, does it fill you up with joy? It does, in fact, fill you up with five grams of fiber, but that’s besides the point.

Now lets get down to the core of things, if you’re interested in eating apples and having a great day with your friends or family, come to the annual Back-to-School Festival hosted by the Orono Foundation for Education and Orono PTO (Schumann Elementary and Orono Intermediate School) on Sunday, September 21st from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the Minnetonka Orchards located in Minnetrista, MN. Families may pay a ticket price of 75 dollars including admission to the orchard, live music, bites and beverages, and also fun activities like face painting, hay rides, and a petting barn.

The vast amount of apple types need to be supported by many different orchards, including Apple Jack Orchards located in Delano, Homestead orchards in Maple Plain, the LuceLine Orchard in Watertown, and many more.

It is no surprise that apples are a sign of good health. Apples are quick and convenient, think about them as mother nature’s “Fast Food.”

Enjoy Minnesota’s delicious snack before it is too late and you’ll be thinking, “I should have eaten an apple to keep the doctor away.”
