You Matter Week begins tomorrow! The annual weeklong festivities are here to raise spirits before Winter Break. Read on to learn more about the fun events happening throughout the week.
All Week
The Wellbeing Club will be offering wellness tips to students over the announcements each day throughout the week.
There will also be a gift drive happening throughout the week, except for Friday. The drive, run by Youth in Action, aims to collect gifts for children and adults who are suffering from mental illnesses. Gifts can be dropped off in marked boxes throughout the high school and are required to be new, unwrapped, and safe.
Monday
Monday’s dress-up day is Monochrome. Students should come to school wearing clothing of all one color. Students will also have the option of writing letters to other students or teachers to show gratitude during lunch.
Tuesday
Tuesday is Twin Day. You should wear the same outfit as one of your friends. Before school, students can bring mugs to receive free hot chocolate, starting at 7:20. Tuesday’s lunch activity is bingo. Students can compete to earn a small prize.
Wednesday
Wednesday’s dress-up day is pajamas, stuffed animals, and blankets. Students can wear just pajamas, or bring stuffed animals and blankets if they like. Students will again be able to write letters during lunch on Wednesday.
Thursday
Thursday is sweater weather/ugly sweater. Come to school wearing an ugly sweater. There is no lunch activity on Thursday, but there will be a Link Crew meeting during Spartan Hour for all freshmen.
Friday
Friday’s dress-up day is You Matter apparel/blue out. Students should wear their You Matter Sweatshirts (from this year or any previous year). This year’s sweatshirts were available for preorder only—last year, students were able to purchase them at lunch throughout the week. If you don’t have any You Matter clothing, you should just wear blue.
Friday will also have a special Spartan Hour. Students can sign up for a variety of activities to participate in: cookie decorating, movie watching, coloring/playing board games and solving puzzles, arts and crafts, and listening to a motivational speaker.
Finally, students will receive any letters written to them by other students (during lunch on Monday and Wednesday) at lunch on Friday.
