On Thursday, Oct. 10th at 11:00 p.m, hundreds of thousands of fans waited for the premiere of Harry Styles’ new single ‘Lights Up’. The surprise release came just days after posters stating “Do You Know Who You Are?” Were plastered throughout cities worldwide.

The former One Direction singer released his debut single ‘Sign of The Times’ and self-titled debut album ‘Harry Styles’ in the spring of 2017. In the time between his debut record and his recent release, he has appeared in Christopher Nolan’s film ‘Dunkirk’ and has been featured on the covers of numerous magazines such as Rolling Stone. In his most recent appearance on the cover of Rolling Stone, he gave fans a taste of what to expect on his upcoming album.

“I love the song and I think it’s a really exciting peek into the style of music we’ll hear from him on this upcoming album,” senior Molly Martini said.

The song ‘Lights Up’ is the first single off of Styles’ upcoming album. The song features elements of classic rock and singer-songwriter influence while incorporating modern techno beats. With the initial release of the single, many fans now anxiously await for future singles or a second album from the singer. ‘Lights Up’ is available for streaming on all music services and the music video for the song has been posted to the official Harry Styles Youtube channel.

“I really enjoy the song, it has created excitement amongst listeners for his album to be released!” senior Anna Syversen said.
