Unified Basketball Tournament

On February 14th, 2019 the Orono Unified Club hosted an all day basketball tournament with 3 other schools in the west metro area. Waconia, Edina, Wayzata and Orono students came together in the new activities center to celebrate their athletic abilities, not their disabilities. It was an all day event that students were able to attend during school hours to cheer on their peers.

‘I was just a volunteer, I showed people around and brought them to where they needed to go. I loved seeing Orono teams cheer for the team that they were playing against. Everyone was rooting for each other.” Said Senior Maddix Grady.

The event was organized by Orono seniors and Unified Club members Julia Rosendahl, Jordan Case and Daniel Walker.

“I have been in unified for 2 years, I always look forward to meetings. I really enjoy spending time with everyone.” Said Unified Club member Zach Adams.

Zach participated in the event, playing in 4 different basketball games during the tournament.

“My teachers let me go down during study hall, English and marketing. I was there for 3 hours. It was so cute to see.” Said Madison Kelderman
