This past Nov. 7 – 11, the OIS media center transformed into the nations second largest book fair. Sponsored by elementary Parent Teacher Organization, the goal of this years book fair was to raise $10,000. The money raised by the book fair will go toward purchasing classroom resources. The theme of this years book fair is “To The Book Fair and Beyond!”
In order to gain more revenue, the PTO has organized a variety of events for students, parents and community members alike, including a spaghetti dinner, early morning shopping event and a late night shopping event.
An alternate goal of this years book fair was to raise $1,000 for the Scholastic’s campaign “One for Books.” The campaign is based on the idea that a few dollars and some pocket change can really make a difference. OIS wants to raise $1,000 for “One for Books,” which will go to Interfaith Outreach and Community Partners.
