On Friday Jan. 10 the Orono Boys Varsity Basketball team trucked out to Annadale to face a conference opponent. This was the Spartans first game back from the holiday break as their game on Jan. 7 against Holy Family was postponed due to harsh weather conditions.
The Spartans came out strong and led a majority of the game. THe halftime score was 47-32 in favor of the Spartans. The second half was not as strong for the Spartans. The second half was back in forth between the two teams as Annadale was showing they would not go down without a fight on their home court. The Spartans edged out the Cardinals 69-67
The leading scorer for your Spartans was senior Chandler Perry with 16 points. Perry was followed by fellow senior Chandler Jacoby with 15 points. This was Jacoby’s second game back from an early season knee injury. Ellis Hammer, junior, followed with 11 points of his own.
The Spartans look on to next week where they will have two more conference games. They play the Hutchinson Tigers at Hutchinson on Tues. Jan. 14 and face the Glencoe Silver Lake Panthers on Friday Jan. 17 at Orono High School, both games begin at 7:15 p.m.
