#2 ranked Orono shut down #7 Fergus Falls 9-0 during the girls hockey state quarterfinal game on Wednesday, February 19th.
Orono’s first goal came with 4:52 left in the first period by #23 Macy Rasmussen. It was followed by two goals from #11 Maddy Kimbrel with 2:20 and 1:27 left in the first, respectively.
Orono snuffed any hope of a Fergus Falls comeback in the second and third periods, scoring a combined 5 goals in the second period and 1 in the third period.
“They destroyed Fergus Falls” sophomore Joseph Kenworthy said.
The Spartans will now be competing in the state semifinals on Friday, February 21st at 11:00 am against #3 Warroad.
