Star Wars Marries Old and New

Star Wars Marries Old and New

The newest installment to the Star Wars series was, as I would put it in my not-so-professional opinion, perfection. Oh how relieved I was when I realized that it didn’t get screwed up. It was truly a Star Wars movie. It was sewed seamlessly onto the end of a fantastic 6 movie series.

Star Wars was an integral part of my childhood, and like many other of my peers, I was unbelievably excited when it was announced that another movie was to be made. In all that excitement however, doubts flickered. What if they ruin it? What if I don’t like it, I thought.

Well, for the first time, I’m glad I was wrong. JJ Abrams weaved together a masterpiece of old and new, of action and plot development. It was new and appealed to the current generation while still satisfying original Star Wars fans. The appearance of Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia and Harrison Ford as Han Solo were two of the most notable reappearances.

Along with the old characters, a whole host of new and notably diverse characters were introduced. Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, is the first female Jedi lead in the series. It is a step in a new direction for the series, and appealed to a wide variety of viewers.

Overall, the movie was spectacular. As a Star Wars fan all my life, this satisfied me and more. It was the perfect continuation of the best movie series in existence.
