British holiday sparks interest for friends to band together

If Cities 97 music is your kind of music, then Bastille’s new album Bad Blood, is likely to be a favorite.

Bastille is an alternative rock band formed in London back in 2010. Bastille originally started out as a solo act by singer-songwriter Dan Smith, later deciding to make a band.

There are four members in the band: Dan Smith, Chris Wood, William Farquarson and Kyle Simmons. The band name comes from a holiday, Bastille Day, that is celebrated on Dan Smith’s birthday.

Many people might know them from their first song that was on the radio called “Pompeii”, which became a favorite on iTunes and topped the charts. All their songs have their unique feel and have a song for everyone’s taste.

Their song “Icarus” sounds like a song that would be in Lord of the Rings, and “The Silence” sounds like it could possibly be on a Twilight album. These are just two examples of the contrast of songs on Bad Blood.

Bastille has a rich, accented sound that will be a favorite for fans of Imagine Dragons, Phillip Phillips and many other unique voices of the alternative genre.

Some of my favorite songs on the album besides “Pompeii,” the “Daniel In The Den,” “Laura Palmer,” and “The Silence.”

The contrast on this album is incredible from faster pace songs such as “Pompeii” and “Bad Blood,” to slower ones including “Overjoyed” and “Get Home.”

I’d definitely give Bad Blood a second listen and recommend that everyone buy it. The music was incredibly easy to get into and I was able to find the perfect song for every mood.

Bastille started their tour on Dec. 11 in Omaha, NE and will end in Perth, Australia. They will be coming to First Avenue in Minneapolis on April 1.
