With the Minnesota Wild’s regular season in full swing, the team had hoped to turn around their recent losses in the perfect setting of San Jose, Cali.
Currently, the Wild rank fourth in the Western Central Conference, out of seven teams. At the top of the conference is long-time rival, the Chicago Blackhawks.
On Sunday Dec. 8, the Wild hosted the San Jose Sharks, who are currently ranked number one in the Western Pacific Conference.
The Wild scored two goals in the second period. The first was from Zach Parise, with assists from Jason Pominville and Marco Scandella.
The second was from Mikko Koivu, with assists from Jared Spurgeon and Marco Scandella.
With six seconds left in the final period, the Wild scored their final goal by Zach Parise, with an assist from Kyle Brodziak.
The Sharks ended the night with one goal in the last five minutes of the third period.
With assists from Matthew Irwin and Logan Couture, Patrick Marleau made the team’s only point for the night.
Josh Harding was in goal for the Wild and blocked a total of 37 shots.
Up until Sunday, San Jose had won 19 of their regular season games. Minnesota had won 13.
The Wild will face the Sharks again on Jan. 25 in San Jose.
