Last night the Orono Boy’s varsity golf team took conference by 4o shots beating Litch and New London Spicer. “Overall we played pretty well this season,” said junior Alex Greenagel. Orono also had four all conference golfers including Max Mason, Koller Adzick, Cam Knutsen ad Dan Lensing. Alex Greenagel was an honorable mention in the Wright County Conference also.
The team now heads into sections with hopefully goals to reach state for the first time since 2011. Section 3A has some of Minnesota’s top golf teams inculding number one Minnetonka and number two seed in the state Wayazta. Orono ranks fifth in the state and right behind them is another section contender, Edina, who rounded out at sixth in state.
“I think if we play well maybe we can compete with them [Section teams listed] and hopefully make it to state,” said Greenagel. Orono has been to state before making three straight appearances couple years ago.
Sections is played throughout a two day period at Ridges in Jordan, MN. As Orono rolls into sections make sure you say good luck and check the paper for results.
