Winterfest week has been moved to the week of February 24 – March 1st.

Winterfest, originally planned to occur on February 3 – February 8. The change was due to many scheduling conflicts, including boys and girls basketball, boys and girls hockey, and dance.

“Winterfest was moved because of the conflicts with many sports and other weekends had the same problem” Student Senator Sebastian Pikula said.

The Winterfest dance will be held on March 1st from 8:30 pm to 10 pm. The location of the dance, whether it will be in the cafeteria or behind the bleachers, has yet to be determined.

In the past Winterfest has been held at the beginning of February, so this is a departure from historical precedent.

Another new change: there will be no Winterfest Court. Coronation and Winterfest Court will be replaced with a variety show – a showcase of the many talents of Orono, and a prom court during Prom week, consisting only of seniors.

“Coronation and Winterfest Court have been replaced due to a lot of students not being interested. With a Prom court, Seniors still have an opportunity to be on court” Pikula said.
