The school board meeting on Feb. 14, was held at 7 p.m. in the District Office assembly room. Prior to the meeting, the Student Senate met with the board members, along with Superintendent Dr. Flesher. The annual meeting was held to discuss the many positive aspects of the school year so far and to converse about the changes and needs for the remainder of the school year. The school board council members made the following retirement announcements: Special Education teacher Lee Starr, who taught for 32 years, 23 years at Orono; Media Center Clerk Barbara Ehalt, who worked at Orono for 34 years; Media Specialist and English teacher Mary Bischoff whose taught for 40 years, 31 years at Orono; English and Journalism teacher Kyle Herring, whose taught for 22 years, 18 years at Orono, and History, Anthropology and Political Science teacher David Herring, whose taught for 34 years, 31 years at Orono. The next school board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Feb. 28.
