Although we are into April, March Madness is still going strong as teams head to Minneapolis for the 2019 Final Four and National Championship. The past month was filled with upsets, Cinderella stories, and bracket-busting games.
Perhaps the most “upsetting” upset was the Eastern Regional final between 1st seed Duke and 2nd seed Michigan State. This Duke team was arguably one of the best college basketball teams ever formed, mainly because it consisted of the four freshman superstars: Zion Williamson, RJ Barrett, Cam Reddish and Tre Jones (all of which are projected to be first-round picks in the NBA Draft).
Out of the 49 brackets submitted for Sparty’s March Madness, 17 had Duke winning it all, and 36 had Duke appearing in the Final Four. A detrimental loss for many brackets this year, but there are still many solid brackets left in the contest.
As of now, the highest scoring bracket in Sparty’s March Madness belongs to Jamie Bazil with a score of 82. But of course the biggest games are still on the horizon and many things could happen. After all, it’s called March Madness for a reason.
