The second St. Jude Red Carpet for hope teen gala will start off a great new year on January 10th at the restaurant The Depot in Minneapolis. Participants and committee members raised at least 250 dollars to be able to attend the gala. The committee members are from areas such as Orono, Wayzata, and Benilde. They worked hard for months to plan, fundraise and get others to fundraise as well.
This impactful gala was started by Berit Francis, who’s daughter, Marit, has been eight years cancer free thanks to St. Jude research hospital. It is a place where doctors send their toughest cases for childhood cancer. It has the best survival rates for the most aggressive forms of cancer.
This event raises money to support the kids of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Through generous donors, families at St. Jude never get a bill for the treatment they receive. Their hard work and dedication helped raise almost 92,000 dollars of their 100,000 dollar goal.
The participants will first step onto the red carpet where they will pose in front of the camera. After, they will enjoy food, music, henna tattoos, photo booth pictures, and more. The grand total of the fundraising will also be revealed later that night. Those who raised the most money have a chance to win many different prizes such as a hoverboard, a limo ride, new XBOX ones, and backpacks.
All participants also have the chance to be entered in to win the St. Jude “The Voice” Sweepstakes based off of their personal fundraising total. It includes two roundtrip tickets from MSP to LAX and two tickets to NBC’s the Voice and a two night hotel stay at the Andaz West Hollywood Hotel.
