Give 60 for #60 is a foundation in honor of an Orono Spartan Jake Anderson. The foundation will be hosting Keith Hawkins at Orono High School on Wed. May 27. Keith Hawkins is an exceptional speaker who helps solve some of the toughest challenges faced by schools.
The foundation was created to foster sportsmanship, community service, leadership, kindness, dedication, heart and integrity. These values were inspired from the life of Jake Anderson who wore #60 on his lacrosse jersey for the Orono Spartans.
The purpose of the Give 60 for #60 foundation is to give 60 minutes of effort on the field and 60 minutes of service a week in spirit of #60.
“Keith used Jake’s strengths and character to really inspire the high school last year, focusing on what little things make a big difference–kindness, giving out a smile, showing empathy and being a leader in setting an example of compassion and passion in the world,” Jake’s mom Kristi Anderson said.
Keith is recognized as one of the world’s top motivational speakers and leadership consultants. He is most known for being able to connect on a personal level with everyone who hears him speak. Keith speaks with conviction, purpose, and passion.
The impact of this event is to encourage youth, empower them to do, be more of who they want to be.
“I can remember when Keith Hawkins came to speak to the school when Jake was a junior or senior. One thing Keith had said was to just tell your folks you love them. Jake came home and told me that, and everyday since, until he left us, we always remembered to say those 2-3 little worlds,” Kristi said.
Jake was an outstanding leader and role model and truly lived life to the fullest. The goal of the Give 60 for #60 Foundation is to carry on the legacy of Jake in hopes of making a positive impact on many other young adults.
