The Orono boys lax team is off to a tremendous start early on in the season. The boys were expected to compete for a conference championship with all of the quality players it returned from last year campaign. So far so good.
Orono started off the season against the Orioles of St. Louis Park and it was a nerve racking game to say the least. The boys trailed early and had to recover from the lead winning 9 to 8. Junior middy Blake Leischow led the attack with three goals. He is committed to Duke for the 2017-2018 season.
The next games Orono blew out the likes of Buffalo, Delano and Hutchinson winning by a combined score of 42 to 12. Granted some of the teams were new to varsity but that is still impressive.
The Spartans then played a ranked Chanhassen team losing a close one 8 to 6 at home. It was a close game and showed the Spartans will be a fun team to watch this year.
