Former Orono basketball star, Jordan Smith, is on the Wisconsin Badgers basketball team. The Badgers made it all the way to the NCAA championship game in which they lost a heartbreaker to Duke Blue Devils. Jordan was interviewed by legendary reporter Sid Hartman for the Star Tribune. This is Jordan’s second year of participating in the Final Four.  Jordan’s bio can be read here from the team website.  http://www.uwbadgers.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/smith_jordan00.html

During the game, at about the 10:29 mark of the second half, there were 8 NCAA athletes recognized for the 2015 Allstate National Association of Basketball Coaches Good Works Team. Rob Andersonformer teammate with Jordan on the 2011 State Championship team, was recognized for this award.  The link to read about it is at http://gocaltech.com/sports/mbkb/2014-15/releases/2015020986vkbh

So in summary, during the NCAA championship game Orono was proudly represented by having two former student-athletes participating on the floor during the game.

We are very proud of both alumni.  They have represented the true values of what it means to be a student-athlete.
