Last week, Orono’s Speech Team competed in the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Section 6AA Speech Tournament.
Following the tournament, eight individuals qualified for the State Tournament. Three students received first place: Emma Lorraine VandenEinde in Informative Speaking, Jack Ellis in Dramatic Interpretation and Parker Roth in Prose. Additionally, three more students received second place: Andy Baran in Original Oratory, Sophia Giovanis in Dramatic Interpretation and Wyatt Jones in Informative Speaking. Two students qualified for state by taking third place: Ellie Ostvig in Humorous Interpretation and Jesse Bissen in Storytelling.
Another 13 students advanced to the Championship Round of the Section Tournament. Good luck to the Speech Team as they go to state!
