LittleBigPlanet 2 is a PS3 video game packed with 30 story levels that tell the story of Negativitron, an evil machine that has threatened to suck up Craftworld and is gobbling up all the cities on the planet. You’re Sackperson and you need to travel to different islands on the globe to run, grab, jump, float, shoot, and fly on your way toward saving the day.
It’s something new and fresh because it’s not your typical violent video game aimed towards males. This story is cute like a children’s storybook.
Although there is not a huge difference of purpose from LittleBigPlanet to LittleBigPlanet 2, there are many new options such as the grappling hook that you can use for swinging and climbing, or the grabinator, which is a pair of gloves that let you pick up and toss objects or other Sackpeople. LBP2 has more of a story line which guides you through the game better.
The style of this video game is a 2D platforming similar to a Mario game with you as the Sackboy starting on one end of the level and running to the other side while jumping over obstacles, killing enemies, and earning points.
The game’s primary goal is not to entertain you so much as to allow you to entertain yourself. Essentially, LBP2 has three parts: you can play the factory-installed single player campaign, you can download levels from LBP’s community, which requires Internet, or you can start building and playing your own levels. If you get lonely, you can form a team with up to three other Sackpeople to play with you either in person or online.
Another fun option on LBP is that you can dress your Sackperson to be almost anything because the more bubbles you win in levels, the more costumes you win. You can have different skins, clothes, hair, eyes, hats, hands, and you can hold random things such as frying pans and dolls. Also, all the bubbles you’ve collected in LBP 1 will transfer to LBP 2 so you will not lose your previous favorite outfits. You can also decorate your pod, which is kind of like your spaceship that you live in when you’re not playing levels.
The graphics are exciting and the levels are a blast. If you have a PS3 and are looking for a new, fun game to play, I would recommend LittleBigPlanet 2.
