The Orono girls hockey team had an upsetting first-round 2-3 loss in the section tournament against Princeton/Big Lake/Becker for a season cut short.

Orono won the conference championship with a 7-0-1 record. They beat teams Red Wing and Holy Family to add to their impressive resume.

“While we didn’t accomplish our goal [o]f State, we accomplished so many amazing things, such as working together and always playing for one another,” senior and captain Madison Martini said.

The team will lose prominent seniors Katherine Spurlock, Stephanie Knight, Maddie Martini, Becky Smith, Kacie Limesand and Emily Knight, however, the team looks forward to next season with 5-year varsity members Haley Nielsen and Ellie Martini leading the team next year.
