The Orono boys basketball team, led by captains, Chandler Perry, Andy Ten Eyck and Ben Turnham, is ranked first in the conference, according to the MSHSL website with a 12-3 record.
The team had a 5-game winning streak as of Feb. 26 with wins against Waconia and Litchfield to finish the regular season.
Junior Cole Hennings leads the team in points per game with 11.9, according to the Star Tribune’s MN Basketball Hub. Following closely behind are senior Chandler Perry (9.7) and junior Ethan Larson (8.9).
The team beat Becker in their first section game 67-42 with Hennings leading the team with 13 points, followed by Jacoby and Sustacek draining 10 each.
The team played last Saturday against St. Cloud Apollo, whom they beat in early December 61-44. The winner goes on to play on March 6.
