This year was a year to remember for the Orono Alpine Ski Team, as both the boys and the girls teams finished off strong, after qualifying for State. The boys team went to State and placed third as a team, led by senior Bradford Morrison who placed fourth overall. The girls team placed seventh in State, with freshman Rosie Hust in fifth place overall.
Although this winter was unusual with the weather regularly below zero, the freezing temperatures did not stop the teams from not only placing well individually, but also having overall well-rounded teams.
The boys team State members included seniors Bradford Morrison, Jeremy Mitchell, Sam James and Jacob Sterling, juniors Mac Bendickson and Ryan Dudley and eighth grader Jackson Zilverberg.
The girls team State members included senior Abby Aasen, junior Catherine Fraser, sophomore Kasey Reese, freshmen Cami Reese and Rosie Hust and eighth graders Hanna McDonnell and Jane Guidera.
The team has high hopes when it comes to the 2015 season with returning skiers such as State top 5 finisher Rosie Hust and State top 50 finisher Cami Reese, while the boys team has State top 50 finishers Jackson Zilverberg and Ryan Dudley.
