From Sept. 24 through Oct. 2, Paris was home to some of the world’s top designers at Paris Fashion Week, which featured lines for Spring/Summer 2014.
Before I even looked at photos of the Paris runway shows, I hoped that I wouldn’t see the obvious. That being floral prints, pastels, and flowing fabrics. Stereotypical blah.
Let’s rip the bandage off right away and point out those designers who fell short. Surprisingly, one of my least favorite collections of the week came from Louis Vuitton.
This was designer Marc Jacobs’s farewell show, as he departs Louis Vuitton and continues on his own personal venture. He went out with a bang as the runway was designed as a dark, dismal place.
The designs were very bizarre, and when it came down to the tailored jackets they were very ill-fitted. The models were all gorgeous, but the designs didn’t show that at all.
As Jacobs makes his leave from the line, one can’t help but wonder who will take over and how their influence will change the face of the famed Louis Vuitton?
Moving from a place of absolute sadness, to one of effortless simplicity we look to the collection from Chloé. Though the collection was made for spring, some separates make you want to cuddle up to a fire and watch the snowfall.
Though, that could just be my Minnesota state of mind.
Classic silhouettes combined with a variety of materials and prints make Chloé out to be one of the frontrunners of the week.
My favorite outfit of the collection was a pale blue, wide knit sweater that was combined with a pair of baggy, printed shorts. As always, going along with the brand’s traditional hint of tomboy style.
Another one of my favorite collections for the Spring/Summer season was that of Miu Miu, created by Miuccia Prada.
Compared to Chloé, the line definitely more high fashion. Whether it was pastel, color blocked jackets, or knee-high lace-up boots, this line is something any girl would drool over.
My favorite look of the collection is hands-down one of the more intricate ones, and quite odd, but beautiful.
A pastel pink trench coat printed with plum colored cats wearing red bows (I said odd, didn’t I?). The coat covered a soft yellow, leather mini skirt, lavender blouse, and to top it off, a pair of to-die-for knee-high boots in a chocolate brown.
No matter what your idea of fashion is, you will find something in the looks of Paris Fashion Week that you’ll love. If you’re lucky, you may just fall for an entire collection.
