On February 26, Cal Clutterbuck (22), from the Minnesota Wild, was kneed by Taylor Hall (4), from the Edmonton Oilers, in the neutral zone at Edmonton, with only 2:33 left of the game. Clutterbuck was lying on the ice, in a lot of pain and then was helped off the ice by Ryan Suter (20) and Mikko Koivu (9).
Hall was suspended for two games and clutterbuck had missed six games. Minnesota Wild had won 3 out of those 6 games.
On March 3, the Wild beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-2 and it was the first game the Wild played against the Oilers after Clutterbucks injury by Hall.
In the beginning of the first period, Magnus Paajarvi (91) scored the first goal on the Edmonton Oilers. Then, with 2:37 left of the first period of the game, Jared Spurgeon (10) from the Minnesota Wild, scored the first goal for the Minnesota Wild.
In the beginning of the third period, Sam Gagner (89) scored the first goal in the period with 12:56 left of the game. Then Dany Heatley (15), Charlie Coyle (63) and Mikko Koivu (9) finished the game with a final score of 4-2.
After the game, Coach Mike Yeo of the Minnesota Wild, had a lot of positive comments to say about the game and the teammates as well.
“The better we play with the puck, the more goals we will score,” said Yeo. “He’s [Charlie Coyle] playing the game the right way.”
Cal Clutterbuck is playing very well and is glad to be back on the ice with the rest of his teammates.
Minnesota Wild have 24 wins and 16 losses.
Edmonton Oilers have 16 wins and 19 losses.
