Hello, I am Miss Star Nosed Mole and I come from eastern Canada as well as eastern parts of the United States. I am a very kooky creature, if you will, and as such have many fascinating traits. The first one obviously being the star shaped nose I possess. While you may think this unique attribute is for smell, you would be mistaken for it’s true magic is in it’s sense of touch. This little organ I possess is known as the Eimer organ; my nose has over 25,000 Eimer organs. My both visually and physically interesting nose is not just for the “cool factor”. I require these tiny organs to survive for I do not see, I only touch. Another truly unfathomable trait I possess is my ability to eat food at a fast rate. My brain actually understands whether or not food is comestible faster than any other mammal on earth. A report in the journal Nature has even named my species the fastest eating mammal. But wait, my cool survival tools don’t end there, by exhaling bubbles underwater and then later inhaling the same bubbles I am actually able to smell underwater. For these reasons and more, it is my belief that I am far superior to any other mammal in the world.
