On October 5th, the Minnesota Vikings beat the Cleveland Browns 21-17, improving their record to 3-2 before heading into their bye week.
Scoring 7 points in each of the first, third, and fourth quarters, the Vikings' offense overcame injuries on both sides. Despite facing the Browns' strong defense, Minnesota found ways to put points on the board and showcased its offensive capability throughout the matchup.
"I'm so proud of those guys," #11 quarterback Carson Wentz said. "They performed despite a unique week and playing short-handed. Blake Brandel started his first game at center, Joe Huber had his first start, and Justin Skule switched from right to left tackle to face a top defensive end. Those things are not easy to do."
The standout aspect of the game this week was Minnesota’s defense, as they held the Cleveland Browns to 17 points in total, forcing them to punt a total of eight times throughout the game. This was a powerful performance by the Minnesota Vikings' defense this week.
“It was one of those games where you just have to stay locked in, because they were running hard and trying to wear us down. We knew what they were going to do—run the football, play-action, keep it simple—so for us, it was about tackling and communicating.” #58 linebacker Jonathan Greenard said when going against the Cleveland Browns' offense.
This week marks the Vikings' bye, so fans can feel pretty good as the team heads into the break with a 3-2 record.
