On Apr. 12, the Empty Bowls fundraiser was back for its eighth consecutive year. When the event began at 4:30, participants entered the Orono High School cafeteria, hoping to contribute to the fight against hunger and food insecurity. Participants paid $10 for a ticket, which covered dinner (a bowl of soup, bread and Girl Scout cookies), entertainment provided by OHS Tri-M and a bowl for them to take home.
The pictures assembled in the slide show illustrate the Orono community’s contributions to the Empty Bowls event, showcasing all that it has to offer. The pictures depict the many bowls made students, teachers and members from the community, as well as the food donated by local businesses Lund’s, Harvest Moon and Caribou Coffee and representatives of the organizations to whom the money is going to.
There are so many bowls out there that are in need of filling. How many will you help fill?
