School has been canceled tommorow, January 21st, due to cold weather. Preschool and daytime Community Education activities are also closed.
“To ensure the safety of students and staff, Orono Schools will be closed Tuesday, January 21, 2025, due to the recent National Weather Service extreme cold warning for our area” Superintendent Kristine Flesher said in an email to students and parents.
The cold weather advisory has been ongoing since 9 pm Saturday and ends tomorrow at noon.
Many students will use this day off to sleep in and study for finals.
“School being closed tomorrow is very helpful. It gives me more time to prepare for my finals while also letting me have the free time and opportunity to hang out with friends or sleep in” sophomore Daniel Bremer said.
After-school athletics and activities are not canceled and will be held as scheduled.
