Homecoming week is just around the corner. Read on to learn more about the week’s events.
Monday, September 23rd: Monday’s dress-up day is White Out. Students are encouraged to wear all-white clothing. Monday is also coronation. Coronation will take place during Spartan Hour, which will be at the end of the day as it is being swapped with 7th hour. The homecoming court includes two students from the freshman, sophomore, and junior classes and 16 students from the senior class.
“It’s gonna be great. It’s gonna be huge. It’s gonna be amazing,” junior senator Evan Epley said regarding the coronation.
Tuesday, September 24th: Tuesday’s dress-up day is class color. Class colors are listed below:
Freshmen: Black
Sophomores: Green
Juniors: Carolina Blue
Seniors: Purple
Tuesday’s Spartan Hour activity is Class Comp. Class Comp is when each class sends representatives to participate in a myriad of competitions to see which class comes out on top. This year’s games are floor hockey, dance-off, tug-a-war, musical chairs, dodgeball, and the blindfolded three-legged race.
Wednesday, September 25th: Wednesday’s dress-up day is Biker vs. Surfer. Students should dress up as bikers or surfers. There are no other events taking place on this day.
Thursday, September 26th: Thursday’s dress-up day is Twin Day. Students should come to school in the same attire as a friend. Thursday’s Spartan Hour activity is Field Day, where students can go outside and play field games with friends. Games include pickleball, kickball, sidewalk chalk drawing, frisbee, and football. Snack Break will also be outside.
Friday, September 27th: Friday’s dress-up day is Spartan Spirit. Students should come to school in Spartan-themed attire. Friday’s Spartan Hour activity is Powderpuff, which is essentially when juniors and seniors go head-to-head in women’s football.
“Oh, juniors are gonna win for sure,” Epley said, “We have some secret weapons we can’t tell anyone about yet,”
The Homecoming Parade will also take place that day, beginning at around 1:20 pm.
“[The parade] will be more organized and better this year,” sophomore Senator and parade-chair Lyrah Hermann.
Directly following the parade is the pep fest which will take place in Pesonen Stadium. That night, the Student Senate will be hosting a tailgate before the Homecoming football game against Mound Westonka. The tailgate will include things such as lawn games, music, food trucks, and more. Spartan football currently has an undefeated record of 4-0.
Saturday, September 28th: The Homecoming dance will take place on Saturday from 8-9:30 pm. Unlike last year, the dance will take place outside on the plaza. Recommended attire is semi-formal. Entry costs $10 and can be paid at the entrance or online through My Payments Plus.
“I am excited to see everyone all dressed up [for the dance],” junior Senator Siya Singh said.
