This week at Orono is Live Unified Week!
Live Unified Week is an annual school tradition that focuses on positivity and inclusivity and is run by the OHS Unified Club. Throughout the week there will be dress-up days and events to bring the school together. Below is a brief schedule of the week’s events.
Monday the 8th: Mindful Monday’s dress-up theme is PJs to school. Furthermore, orange Be Kind shirts will be sold at lunch.
Tuesday the 9th: Tuesday’s theme is Twinning Tuesday and it is where students pick a partner and they both wear the same thing to school. Tuesday is also the last day to buy an orange Be Kind shirt at lunch.
Wednesday the 10th: Be Kind shirts are the dress-up theme for Wednesday and there will also be a big “Live Unified” poster that everyone is invited to sign at lunch.
Thursday the 11th: On Team Thursday the theme is wearing your favorite sports attire, whether that be from the Orono Spartans or some professional team. Also, during Spartan Hour, some teachers and a combination of students with and without intellectual disabilities will be competing in a friendly game of basketball in the OHS gymnasium.
Friday the 12th: For the finale of Live Unified Week, Funky Friday celebrates everything unique and how we can be united by our differences. That is why for the last day of Live Unified Week students are encouraged to wear any sort of wacky clothing to highlight their uniqueness.
Hopefully everyone has fun this Live Unified Week and it remains a beloved Orono tradition for years to come!
