OHS has changed its lunch lines and there are mixed feelings about it.
With the new lunch lines, the A La Carte line was moved to the right side of the cafeteria, the salad and soup bar was moved to where the A La Carte used to be, and you can now get bento boxes by where the salad and soup line was.
“We were in need of changing the setup due to safety concerns and needed to create ways to provide more [plentiful] and diverse options in the future,” Ms. DeRoma, the head of nutrition for the Orono Schools District, said.
The change has caused some mixed feelings among students. Some students do not see the value in the changes. When asked about the changes, some were discouraged by the fact that many tables had been moved around and felt it was unnecessary
You can expect people to not like the change, but others do. A general consensus among the lunch specialists was that the lines now moved faster so kids could actually have time to eat their lunch. Furthermore, it was agreed that the student body would get used to it in time.
Change can be happy and exciting, as well as messy and complicated, but safety is important too. Fear not, OHS, you can still get your snack from the A La Carte because the lines are moving efficiently. Only time will tell if this change will work out.
