Be on the lookout for some new and long-awaited albums and concerts coming this coming year.
In March alone, there are many talented and well known artists releasing albums that some fans have been waiting years for.
“I’ve been listening to Melanie Martinez since 5th grade and for 100 gecs I started listening to them during quarantine,” OHS Senior Sophia Brown said.
Melanie Martinez is an American singer and performer best known for her “Cry Baby” alter ego. Her music depicts tales of depression, family dysfunction, and the struggles of childhood. Her most recent album, “K-12,” was released back in 2019. Around the beginning of March, she began posting teasers for her new album “PORTALS,” which is scheduled to be released on March 31, 2023, through Atlantic Records.
10,000 Gecs is another album for which fans have been eagerly waiting for a long time. It is 100 Gecs’ second album. The album was finally released on March 17, 2023, after a 2021 promotional tour, initial plans for a release in early 2022, and several delays.
Other artists that have released music in March already include Lana del Ray, whose album “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd” was originally scheduled to be released on March 10th but has since been postponed to March 24th, 2023. On March 10, 2023, Miley Cyrus’ eighth studio album, “Endless Summer Vacation,” was made available through Columbia Records. Last but not least, on March 3, Morgan Wallen released his massive, 36-track third studio album, “One Thing at a Time,” through Big Loud Records.
Not only are there albums to be listened to, but in the upcoming year, there are many concerts and tours of some big A-list artists.
With Covid almost completely gone, people can start getting back into going to concerts and music festivals. Some of the more popular ones are Beyonce at the Huntington Bank Stadium on July 20th, Taylor Swift at the U.S. Bank Stadium on June 23 and Lollapalooza the four-day music festival held in Grant Park in Chicago on Aug 3, 2023 – Aug 6, 2023.
“Arctic Monkeys is performing on August 25 and 26. Out of all the concerts I’m planning on going to this year, I’m most excited for Arctic Monkeys hundred percent. I will be at both those concerts front row, and I’m planning to meet them,” OHS Senior Maria Kelly said.
So, if you are a big music lover, be aware and stay updated on where some of your favorite singers might be in forthcoming months!
