Season 21 of Dancing with the Stars comes to an end.

Charli D’Amelio had an amazing season on the show. D’Amelio finished at the top of the scoreboard every week with the combination of her high judge scores and votes from the viewers. The top of the scoreboard was always a neck and neck race. However, against competitors Gabby Windey and Wayne Brady, it was a close race. All three competitors scored almost always perfect scores week after week, the final decision falling on viewers’ votes to set one competitor higher than the other.

Charli D’Amelio was a competitive dancer before joining the show Dancing with the Stars, famous for her appearance on the popular social media platform “TikTok”- having over 100 million followers.

“I thought this season of Dancing with the Stars was very fun to watch, but there was also a lot of controversy surrounding Charli D’Amelio being on the show as well. Charli had dance experience, having spent years competitively dancing. She had the technical background, which made it unfair for the other competitors who had zero dance experience going into the show,” Katelyn Fix said.

Although D’Amelio was a favorite among many, there were many other talented contestants.

“I was not rooting for Charli to win the Mirrorball Trophy and was disappointed with her winning the season, because I really wanted Gabby, the bachelorette, to win,” Natalie Widen said.

Opinions vary as each viewer takes a different stance on who they wanted to win.

“I was rooting for Charli because she was interesting and honestly a lot better than the other people on the show,” Fix said.

Dancing with the Stars is judged by Len Goodman, Cerrie Anna Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derke Hough. The show is hosted by Tyra Banks. Banks returns as host of Dancing with the Stars for her third season, joined by past winner of the show, Alfonso Ribeiro.

Opinions vary not only on who people think should have won the season, but on the fairly new host Tyra Banks and her co-host Alfonso Ribeiro of the show as well.

“I really liked the new host Alfonso Riviera. He did a really good job on the show and I also really liked him already because he was on one of my favorite shows, America’s Funniest Home Videos. I was not a fan of the other host, Tyra Banks. She was very annoying, and talked about herself a lot,” Widen said.

Fans of Dancing with the Stars are sad to see host Tom Bergeron step down from the show, and many share criticism for Tyra Banks’ role in filling his shoes. Fans have expressed their anger with Banks when she talks over contestants, and makes obscure comments.

“At the end of the day, Charli deserved to win because she worked really hard and it showed,” Fix said.

While the new season of Dancing with the Stars did not come without its criticism, many fans agree that there was one star who had the makings of a true winner from the start; Charli D’Amelio.
