The world of decadence and grace is back as of March 25 with the second season of the Netflix Original Series, “Bridgerton” (rated TV-MA).

The highly anticipated TV series came out with its first season on Dec. 25 2020 with slightly mixed reviews and people all over the internet obsessing over the characters. Season one especially put the spotlight on Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page and the characters they inhabited.

With all the attention it received in its first season by reaching 53 million hours of viewing, the second season has surpassed that immensely by reaching 251.74 million hours of viewing in its first week of being released. With all that attention also comes obsessions to the new characters of the series.

This season, Jonathan Bailey continued his role in playing Anthony Bridgerton, but this time under the spotlight like Dynevor was in the first season by playing Daphne Bridgerton. Bailey was accompanied this season by Simone Ashley as she took on the role of Kate Sharma, the “love interest” and co-star.

“Simone made so much sense for Kate when I met her for a chemistry test,” Bailey said to the website Town & Country.

The newest love interest played by Ashley is one of intelligence, stubbornness and immense care. Ashley finds the perfect ways to expose this character not only through her lines but also through her action and body language.

“The romance genre, rightly so, is being given a platform in Bridgeton that it completely deserves. It’s the most joyful, optimistic, expansive narrative that you can absorb yourself into,” Bailey said in an interview with Town & Country.

This season, like most of Shonda Rhimes’ shows, is filled with plot twists, heartbreak, yearning and pure intensity. The plot of this season follows Bailey and Ashley as their characters navigate through enemies to lovers and a love triangle trope within 19th century London high society.
