Twi-hards die hard for “Breaking Dawn”

Killing the competition, the newest movie Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn Part One, passed the $500 million mark in less than two weeks.

It is no surprise that this movie is doing so well because it is filled with action, sexual tension and great teen drama. Whether you are on team Jacob or team Edward the movie did not disappoint.

In the first 30 seconds of the movie Jacob does his trademark move of transforming into a werewolf, after reading the wedding invitation for his love, Bella, and his arch-rival Edward. This transformation always begins with Jacob ripping off his shirt and exposing the world to his perfect abs.

Fans of the vampire, Edward, rejoiced when he sealed the deal with a long passionate kiss with Bella at the alter.

This latest movie had a strong element of sci-fi, which was a distraction from the overall love theme. At the wedding reception the Cullen family friends had eyes that were martian like and they stood out awkwardly next to the other vampires.

The other main complaint from the hard core fans was that the honeymoon bedroom scene was too PG. They showed nothing of the long awaited moment when Bella lost her virginity except for a few seconds of kissing. Then the next scene inexplicably shows the room as trashed. There is furniture broken in half, feathers strewn across the room and shredded drapes. A close up of Bella shows that she is covered with bruises – nothing short of disturbing.

Those who have never read the Twilight Saga, or have not seen the previous movies, may have gotten a bit lost for they do not recap what has happened in the past movies. But for us die-hard fans who camp outside for hours waiting for the theater doors to open, we loved every second of it.
