On January 15th, the Orono high school lunchroom sampled La Croix during all three periods of lunch, allowing the students a chance to test a drink they may bring to the school. They offered various flavors, including: Piña Fraise, Lemon, Pamplemousse, and more. They also gave students the opportunity to sample news flavors such as Limoncello and Watermelon. Students, especially those already with an affinity for this sparkling beverage, were excited by the possibility of La Croix being brought to the lunch room.
“I loved it, it made my entire day,” senior Kendall Mauer said, “La Croix is my favorite sparkling water, so it was really exciting that they were sampling it. I’m sort of sick of the Bubbly they usually serve.”
In the past, the samples brought to the lunchroom have been that of food, so sampling a drink such as La Croix diverged from the ordinary. By sampling food or drink allows the lunchroom to gain perspective on what foods provoke a reaction from students. For students, getting food and drink sampled is a pleasant surprise.
“It was really exciting,” senior Margaret Kraus said, “They let us try new flavors that aren’t even available yet.”
The food staff recently has made an effort to expand upon the things offered in the lunchroom.
