On Tuesday, April 30, 33 students from Orono High School sat nervously in their seats at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. These students have worked on their projects and other DECA material since as early as September. They worked hard on their projects to make their way past Districts and State to get to Internationals. 33 Orono DECA members were hoping to hear their name called to claim their own DECA glass. DECA glass is the glass trophy that is awarded to the first, second, and third place finishers in each category.
The students left on Thursday, April 25 and returned Wednesday, May 1. This year there was a record number of students qualifying for the international conference from Orono. With many finalists at the international level, Georgia Beutler and Sander Weninger were able to take home the DECA glass and took first place in the International business project.
