Winter trends bound into Minnesota closets

    Maddie Parrot’s take on scarves.

Holiday editions of fashion magazines are published, Black Friday ads are delivered to doorsteps, the days are drawing shorter, and winter is dawning upon us. What are the hot trends that are meant to melt the icy weather, and strut along the freshly snow-paved avenues once the first snowflake falls?

Living in Minnesota, it’s only natural for us to need warm and toasty jackets. To keep both your cheeks and fashion sense glowing this winter season, you need a suitable coat. Echoing the fall color palette, winter coats are shown in natural hues such as black, brown, beige and heather grey. Jackets are accented with fur tipped hoods and bright patterned scarves to keep your icy figure cozy.

The up-and-coming design for winter is horse print, substituting for last year’s hounds-tooth. The pattern literally being horse print, is making a name for itself. Soon you will find horses, flowing manes and all, galloping across your shirts, prancing among the fold of your scarves and bounding into you jewelry box. If you are not a fan of horses parading across your closet terrain, use this trend in moderation. As in small accessories: rings, earrings and necklaces.

You know what winter means in Minnesota? Two words; hockey season. Guys, dig out your hats! The most-wanted head wear for winter includes your favorite hockey team. The only question is, which team will you find plastered to your forehead? Will you show some Spartan Pride, represent for the Minnesota Wild or wear the name of another team?

The holiday season is already beginning. Big holidays bring big trends, which is exactly what you should expect this winter. And that, wraps up the outlook on winter fashion trends, simply with a red bow.
