2018 was an exciting year for music, unknown artists emerged on to the charts and A-List artists released new music. Spotify music streaming service reaches 170 million users, and has 2 million artists music available. Spotify released their top songs and artists from the year.
The top 5 most streamed songs consist of male hip hop acts. Drake tops the charts with Gods Plan, a song about speaking the truth no matter the consequence. As well as the importance of going back to your family and home no matter how glamorous your life is.
Post Malone has been on the music scene since 2015, however, his latest album Beerbongs and Bentleys has two songs that made it in the top five.
XXXTENTACION was new on to the music scene in 2018 and quickly rose to fame with SAD!, a song about his struggle with depression and suicide. XXXTENTACION was tragically assassinated on June 18, 2018 (3 months after the release of SAD!) in Florida.
