The mall of over 550 shops, also known as Mall of America, is getting ready for its biggest deals of the year. Friday Nov. 23 is also known as Black Friday, the shopping holiday that follows Thanksgiving. This unique celebration has been around for longer than many can count and the deals continue to grow every year; deals meaning a valuable product or clothing for a cheaper price.
The MOA is known to have customers camp out in tents all night in order to try and sweep the best deals from many stores before they run out. Due to the mall being so large, there are age restrictions at certain times of the day, limiting any possible crime that could develop or happen.
“My three sisters and I have an annual Black Friday shopping trip at MOA,” senior Emma Dalton said. “Not only do we all try and win the family competition of buying the best deals, but we are tenting out this year in order to get an early start.”
Many shoppers like the Dalton family are excited to shop and buy gifts for themselves, but many shoppers also go to buy gifts for the upcoming holidays. According to Kimberly Amadeo, over 50% of shoppers on Black Friday are busy buying gifs for the upcoming holidays.
As a result of MOA being located in Minnesota, right near Orono, everyone should begin preparing to either get their shopping on, or their hibernation on.
