Several Orono High School students will be walking out at 10 a.m. on March 14 as part of the #Enouth National School Walkout. The National Walkout cites as one of its goals to be both a protest and a memorial to the 17 victims of the Stoneman-Douglass school shooting in Parkland, FL on Feb. 14.
Student organizers at OHS have the following plan:
1. Students interested in participating will wear black to school on Wednesday.
2. At exactly 10:00 a.m. student protesters will respectfully walk out of their classrooms and out the main doors of the high school.
3. Students will meet at the flag in front of OHS and remember the Parkland victims until 10:17 a.m. – the 17-minute protest is to honor each of the 17 lives lost.
